Trust Your Characters

Was stuck with a story.  I knew what was to happen, but the particulars were fuzzy.  I however fell back upon a an old tool - I let the characters write the scene.

You should be writing from the view of a specific character, so listen to the character describe things and mention applicable talents.  I found my inner voice of the persona mention certain problems with his comrades, which needed to be dealt with (injecting needed relationship issues).  Some problems were easily dealt with, while others were truly problems forcing some resolution (injecting some realism).  I thus found the scene develop clearly and in a manner that was more rational than the simplistic notes in my outline.
